First Look At My Fall Front Porch
For the first day of fall I wanted to share a first look at my Fall Front Porch! This year I went with all shades of purple!
As we celebrate the changing of the season into fall, you can join me as we take a first look at My Fall Front Porch. This year I found myself yet again just not feeling the traditional tones of orange and yellow. Honestly I am not sure why I was not feeling it, but this also happened to me last year as well and I went with an all red & white color story that you can see here with an apple picking theme. This year I think I was inspired by the royal purple of the queen, so I went all in on shades of purple. I used pretty colors like Lavender, Aubergine and mums in a Fuschia purple color.
I accented the purple with black and white buffalo check, which goes with anything. Plus, I used the black and white last year and loved how it worked so well with my Halloween decor, so I ordered these fun reversible pumpkin pillows for this year. They are check on one side and say Hey Pumpkin on the other, too cute right?
They are perfect for the bench which is highly visible from the street, so I can send out a cute little holiday message to the passersby, for when I am not actually out on the porch giving a friendly little wave!
In addition to the shades of purple, this year I went with all white pumpkins. We shall see how long these last, as they have a tendency to not last as long as the other do. So, I may end up with others at some point, if the weather stays to hot, since I do not bleach or wash mine.
Why, may you ask? Well, I like to offer my pumpkins up to the wildlife when they rot, and if I use that famous online TikTok pumpkin wash that uses soap and bleach, it will make all the deer, raccoons, squirrels etc. sick and possible kill them. So, while I understand why people do it, I personal think it is wasteful since you cannot not put them out into the environment safely afterward. So just take that as food for thought, as you are bleach washing your pumpkins my friends.
I do however recommend the mum watering technique, which shows watering from the bottom or keeping them in a large bucket without drain holes so they can drink from below. This fall hack actually works and preserves your mums longer. So that TikTok is worth a watch and does work as I did this trick last year for the giant red mums.
Another decorating tip I use a lot is stacking, and I love to do this with multiple colors of pumpkins. As seen above I have used a painted metal pumpkin and live white Cinderella style pumpkin. I also filled these oversized lanterns with a mix of white, lavender and aubergine mini pumpkins to pull the color story together.
Which brings me to another tip, don’t get stuck on all your pumpkins being real. You can mix and match live and faux pumpkins like I have done. In fact, I use the metal pumpkins every year and they have changed color numerous times; these pumpkins have been silver, green, and copper just to name a few colors.
I also love to use unexpected Halloween decor, which is unexpected just to start and set the mood. This vintage milk jug has a hidden jack o lantern face, but you have to be looking for it to see it.
As for my door decor I kept it simple at the moment, just a basic wooden pumpkin welcoming the season, in a vintage white color. It matches the home more than the decor or the purple, but it still works nicely for the season in an unstated chic way.

I love it! You have the best colors here. I need to decorate my porch.
Thank You so much, I really enjoy doing unexpected fall decor every year, and while I can appreciate the very traditional orange and yellow tones sometimes I just like to color outside of the lines.
You are so talented! I love the variation in the colors this year. SO gorgeous and thanks for the tips to start mine.
Thank you so much Julie I appreciate your kind words for the season! Happy fall decorating to you!
I love the purple! Those different pumpkins look so good with the mums. Nice job!
Thank you so much, I love to keep my fall front porches looking unique if I can to inspire fall decorating this time of year. While I love all the fall colors, I do have a soft spot for Halloween decor too and purple is a big part of that for me, so this is an easy transition into that season.
I love this stunning purple take on Fall decor. Everything goes together beautifully.
If I have a porch I’m sure your designs will be on top of my list! These are adorable! Love them so much! You did a really good job!
Thank You so much, I know it is not the first thought for fall decorating but I love to think outside of the traditional ways of decorating to present inspiration for all this time of year!
I appreciate it very much, and to be honest the small pumpkins have been repainted so many times now it is hard to remember what color they started out. LOL!
I absolutely love the purple porch! Such a great look for fall!
Thank You I have always loved adding in purple during the fall, but this is my first making it a focal theme color.
