Getting All the Fall Feels Home Tour
It is that time of year finally when you start to feel the crispness of fall in the air. Are you getting all the fall feels? Join us for our fall home tour.
Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well this fine fall season. It is that time of year finally when you start to feel the crispness of fall in the air. Are you getting all the fall feels? Well fall just happens to be my favorite time of the year. You know as a kid I always loved summer, and I remember asking my parents what their favorite season was, and they both answered fall. While I did not understand the allure of it at the time, I certainly do now, more than ever. Fall is a reminder that endings can be beautiful, it is all in how you view them. This year I decided to keep things simple yet again. This seems to be a little more of a common decorating theme for us as well. I guess maybe since I have done so many over the top designs in my days with 20+ years in the events, interior design and wedding field their comes a point where simple elegance is just enough. Cozy and comfortable is just enough to enjoy the seasons. Last week I set my front porch in hues of auebringrines and ivories, with pretty purple mums and winter white pumpkins. This is about as untraditional as you can get for fall without a stitch of orange in site; but it is going to look great when I set Halloween in the next week or so. In case you missed all the details of my Fall Front Porch you can see it all here. As for the inside, I decided to keep it simple with lots of texture. I used these great leather cut leaves I found on clearance closeout last fall at my local Hobby Lobby. So, I picked them up for .50 cents a package and they were super easy to store away for this year and matched my leather chargers I purchased last year and the napkin cuffs, which I am still loving right now.
The leather pairs really nicely with the slate black Southern Living plates I purchased and the new Denby china I have recently acquired as well. These were both items I had been shopping and looking at for some time now, and I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on both, as I got rid of some of my other dishware.
I found these funny little Rae Dunn napkins, which sort of just felt like everything fall, since it seems as if pumpkin everything has taken over the grocery stores this time of year. Please know that I do like a nice Pumpkin Spice Latte, however I do feel like the Pumpkin Spice craze has gone a little bit overboard, and there are just some things that should not be done in that flavor. So, while I like it, I do draw a line at too much and these napkins are just me poking fun at that overdone trend, in my own very special way. As I previously mentioned I love to celebrate texture and this table runner completely lit my fire. Not only did it add texture, look at all of the color possibilities it adds to pull from for your table. This piece was a summer table runner at Hobby Lobby and on clearance when I went a few weeks ago, but it just screamed fall to me. I am sure this will become one of those pieces I pull all the time for decor because it is so versatile and I literally paid pennies on the dollar for it. The sleeping porch is another room that gets a workout this time of year, and there is no better place to watch the fall foliage drop on those breezy days than my little oasis in the sky. It gets a full makeover at least twice a year, fall and spring, to keep it fresh and free from all the little creepy crawlers that might have found their way between the screens. I always love to add a fresh scented candle to float along on the breeze, for me on this porch I love Yankee Candles Midsummer’s Night. It just makes me think of clean fresh night air and it is not overly cinnamon or pumpkin scented like some of the fall scents, so it is a year-round scent. As you can see it creates a very cozy spot for me and the fur babies to watches those leaves fall and catch up on our reading. Little Zooey has been all about watching the leaves drop since this is really her first fall, last year she was just a baby. However, Dexter has 14 fall seasons under his belt, so he would rather just take a nap and enjoy the breeze. One last thing I am sharing we just got in for our fall home tour this season is our Balmoral handmade wool blankets. These came in from The House of Balmoral in Scotland yesterday which made me so excited. I ordered them on September 9th just after the passing of Queen Elizabeth since they are made from local sheeps wool. Honestly I was hoping for the royal tartan, which is not a public pattern for sale, however I was able to get the original tartan plaid used for Burberry, which you may recognize. Which started off as the iconic coat lining back in the 1920’s the full story seen here.
No matter how you decided to celebrate your fall make it a good one and do not waste a single second of it! We all hope you enjoyed our simple little home tour this season and stay tuned for more projects and the Halloween decor coming soon!
