Adding a Wall Mounted Fireplace for Ambiance
Ask the Designer: Today we will be talking about Adding a Wall Mounted Fireplace for Ambiance, along with a quick tutorial on the installation.
Have you ever had a room that really cried out for a fireplace, but no good way to add one easily? Today on Ask the Designer I am discussing Adding a Wall Mounted Fireplace for Ambiance, along with a quick and easy tutorial on how to install. First of all, let me just say that there is nothing more ambient than firelight. If you have ever read my post about Hygge Design you know that the four elements are big in design and fire always sets a mood. By adding a fireplace into a room not only will you increase the rooms design character but your homes value as well. There are several ways to add a fireplace into your home. Below you can see how we simply added the 48″Doris Electric Fireplace as a tabletop piece to an existing console. Which is one of the simplest ways you can add a faux fireplace to any space.

This particular model can also be installed directly as an in wall recessed fireplace or as flush mount fireplace as well. Today we are going to show the easy installation of flush mounting with the easy mount bracket which holds the fireplace securely in place with 4 simple anchor bolts. We were very lucky to hit two wall studs, and then used two wall anchors for additional mounting stabilization.Once the bracket was in place the fireplace simply slide onto the bracket, similar to mounting a flat screen television. While this is a 48″Doris Electric Fireplace wide fireplace, it is also available in 40″ and a 60″ as well.
We then ran the cord behind the furniture to hide the cord and plug the fireplace in to test, prior to installing the crystals, logs and the glass front.
It operates on 1,500 watts, with a 120-volt control panel located on the upper right hand corner, along with a convenient hand held remote control. It has a timer control that is adjustable for 1-8 hours, and a temperature controller to offer the user a custom experience.
You will want to artfully lay the crystals inside, I actually left the flame effect on to see what I was doing and where I should place the logs and crystals. The flame can dance with or without heat so you are completely safe to do this with the heater off.
The smart display and multiple flame effects make this fireplace a great decoration for any home. Each Doris Fireplace has 6 light settings which consists of 3 colors with 3 levels of intensity. This is a low intensity traditional orange flame setting, which would emulate the look of a low light fire. This is a medium intensity combination blue and orange flame setting, which gives a really fun purple effect. This is the high intensity blue flame setting, which I feel could be fun for a themed party or it would be super creepy at Halloween. One other really nice thing I would also like to point out is that this brand was a direct ship to our door with all the parts and pieces needed for and instant installation for both the ways we have shown today. So if you are looking for that instant gratification, this is a one box wonder. However you know me, and I always have to doctor things up and make them my own, so this little unit will be transforming in the next month or so into something really fabulous! So stay tuned to see how I step this up a level and bust out my designer skills in this room.
This is such a cute idea. It really warms up the place and makes it so cozy.
I love this!! Our home does not have a fireplace and I think this would be an amazing touch to make it more cozy! Thank you!
Looks like a great addition to your house. And the step by step process is definitely handy! Keep it up 🙂
This looks gorgeous! I might need to build this when I buy my own house.
Great idea! Never did wall mounted fireplace or seen one. Yes I also feel fireplaces are great additions to any home, thanks for sharing your tips!
This came out so good! We have a gas fireplace, but I do want something similar like this when we have a new home.
Our friends did this in Florida and it added so much to their space!
Love your idea! I’ll follow your idea and put fireplace in winter in my home.
Wow these are really beautiful! We have a fireplace that we never use and these wall mounted ones are still better looking! And the wall mounted ones are way more eco-friendly because they don’t require burning of any kind!
They look really great! I would love to have one at home. And thank you for the video.
Awesome! That’s given me some ideas for my basement to add a bit of cozy down there. I’m excited to see how you plan to transform it. 🤗
This looks amazing! I wish I didn’t live in an apartment and I could install this in my own home.
You are full of brilliant ideas. Winter is approaching here in Cyprus … we are moving to a new place next month – thank goodness will have a fireplace!
Although i stay in UAE where winters aren’t chilly but this looks like an amazing idea. So easy to set up and doesn’t take up any space .
