Bloody Molly Halloween Cocktail

Everyone has heard of a Bloody Mary, but how about a Bloody Molly Halloween Cocktail?

Do you remember as a kid being dared to stare into a dark bathroom mirror and chant Bloody Mary 3 times until she would show up in the mirror? Ah yes, the 80’s were such an iconic time to grow up as a kid, doing this dumb stuff at slumber parties; and we also tried to flush our feet down the toilets too! Well instead of a knife wielding Bloody Mary in the mirror, or serving them on a mirrored tray with a ghost face. Today I am serving up Bloody Molly Halloween Cocktails, and the mirrored tray is totally optional!Bloody Molly JENRON DESIGNSWhat is the difference between a Bloody Mary and a Bloody Molly, well the alcohol of course. While a traditional Bloody Mary contains vodka, which is not a favorite in our home. The Bloody Molly contains Irish Whiskey, or if you want to take things south of the border try a Bloody Maria and add tequila, another house favorite especially with brunch. Halloween Bloody Molly's JENRON DESIGNSThis cocktail is nice because it is not too sweet, which is so nice this time of year when everything is so sweet.  I love a good savory cocktail. Plus, you can get in your veggies with a nice hit of alcohol with fewer calories, and the shrimp are a perfect protein hit.

The ingredients for my simple Bloody Molly Halloween Cocktail:

  • 1 cup Clamato Juice
  • 1 shot Irish Whiskey
  • fresh squeezed lemon wedge
  • 4 dashes of Tabasco
  • 4 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
  • dash of lemon pepper
  • 3 Steamed/Grilled Prawns per glass, coated with Old Bay (dead man’s toes)
  • Frozen Dilly beans for stir sticks (witches’ fingers) doubles as ice cubes

You can combine all the ingredients into a shaker with ice for a super chilled version, however I find that this tends to “water down” the drink a bit, so I like to chill all of my liquids ahead of time in a pitcher to get them nice and cold, no ice needed.

Bloody Molly Ingredients JENRON DESIGNS Mega Bloody Mary’s are also a fun thing to create any time of year and tend to be more of a meal and drink in one. Which can be a fun way to host a “lite bites party”, also a great Halloween theme. I love to try the Mega Mary’s wherever I find them on the menu. They usually have cheeseburger sliders, or chicken fingers along with pickles, bacon and everything else you can think of affixed to the glass. Sometimes an entire rotisserie chicken! Like I said a complete menu included with your cocktail. Here are some of my favorite places that I have taste tested the “Mega” Bloody Mary’s:

  • Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails Milton, GA
  • The Ainsworth Nashville, TN
  • Tupelo Honey Asheville, NC
  • Hexx Kitchen Las Vegas, NV
  • LOLA Denver, CO
  • Commander’s Palace Destin, FL
  • Sambos Santa Barbara, CA

Halloween Bloody Molly JENRON DESIGNSGreat snack topper ideas for your bloody drink of choice:

  • Chicken Fingers (Rotisserie Chicken, if you are going to impress)
  • Candied Bacon Slices
  • Zesty Pickles, Pickled Okra, Olives, or Dilly Beans

Yum I love that you are using whiskey in the bloody Molly, I have never heard of this. Unless this is that girl we used to chant and call in the mirror at slumber parties? Or was that bloody Mary? Where we seriously calling out drink specials as kids? Too funny

I love tequila so maybe I should try a bloody Maria that sounds so good! I could see some weird gothic church vibe with those like a Ouija board and exorcism theme, right?

I like the idea of using the different liquors in drinks, who says it has to Vodak all the time? The idea of Mezcal or Tequila is very interesting.
