My Magic 8 Ball Halloween Cocktails
Is it the witching hour yet? Join me for my Magic 8 Ball Halloween Cocktails, that we served up at my Fortune Teller’s Ball last week!
In case you missed it, I decided to host a little Fortune Teller’s Ball, and of course I wanted to make the menu and cocktails clever to go along with dinner, as always. So I came up with the idea of creating a Magic 8 Ball Halloween Cocktail as my signature drink of the night. The concept being based off the old 80’s magic 8 ball toy, you could ask questions and flip over to get your mystical answer.
However, my idea is that I wanted the answers to be inside the ice cubes as they swirled around inside the cocktails through out the night. So I came up with idea of laminating similar answers like Yes, No, and a question mark, for the ask again later or it is uncertain category. Then depositing them into ice sphere molds to essentially make my own Magic 8 balls out of ice.
Once I added the water to molds and froze the ice cubes you can see how the 8 balls turned out below. While I will say they are not perfect, it is still a very “cool” idea, and certainly get the point of the cocktail across. You can absolutely swirl the ice around for your answer as you drink.
This ice cube DIY can be used for any drink, but my Magic 8 Ball (aka the Dirty 8 Ball) recipe is:
- 1 part Cherry Coke or Cherry Coke Zero
- 1 part GoldSchlager
- 1 part Amaretto
I really like the cinnamon cherry flavor, and it has a color which reminds me of those old purple magic 8 balls with the dark brown or black liquid inside, back in the day.
I found that using GoldSchlager made the cocktail taste like a Cinnamon Coca Cola, which came out late last year. I personally loved it, and can no longer find anywhere. Plus it adds a fun and pretty aspect with the gold flakes floating around in the cocktails, which added to the whole Fortune Teller’s Ball theme and magical Halloween vibe.
