Chocolate Dipped Fortune Cookies

Here’s my quick and easy tutorial on how to make those fun Chocolate Dipped Fortune Cookies. Earlier in the week I showed you a cozy Valentine’s Fireside Date Night.

Fortune Cookie JENRON DESIGNSThe easiest way to make these Chocolate Dipped Fortune Cookies is to purchase pre-made fortune cookies. Which can be picked up at a local Chinese restaurant the same time you order the Valentine’s Dinner for 2 seen in my cozy Fireside Valentine’s Date Night Dinner.Prepping Fortune Cookies JENRON DESIGNSIf you are feeling industrious you can always try to look up a recipe to make your own fortune cookies. I personally am not that strong of a baker and knew this was not going to be my strong suit, so mine are all store bought.  However, if you choose to make your own, you will have the ability to put your own Valentine Themed fortunes inside. Like a modern version of a conversation heart.Choclate Dipping Fortune Cookies JENRON DESIGNSNext you will need to assemble your ingredients, which are Chocolate Chips or melting chocolate and some fun sprinkles. Also, I placed wax paper under the area I was working in, to prevent spills, drips and over all kitchen mess.Sprinkles JENRON DESIGNSYou are going to melt your chocolate down according to the directions on the package. I started with 1 cup of chocolate chips in the microwave for 30 seconds, repeat in 30 second increments until melted. Stirring often to make sure they did not scorch.Melted Chocolate JENRON DESIGNSOnce your chocolate is melted you are going to want to dip one side of the fortune cookie into the chocolate and then coat with sprinkles.  I worked with one batch of chocolate at a time, and did half the cookies in dark chocolate and half in white chocolate.Pink Sprinkles JENRON DESIGNS

White Choclate & Sprinkles JENRON DESIGNSI also found having the sprinkles in separate bowls for quick dipping was also very handy. This allows you to go directly from the chocolate to the sprinkles of your choice and light coat over the bowl. The excess then falls off back into the bowl for the next round.

Fun Fortune Cookies JENRON DESIGNSI allowed the cookies to dry and the chocolate to set up for several hours prior to packaging them or plating them. You can speed up this process by putting them in the freezer for 10-25 minutes. Valentines Day Treats JENRON DESIGNS

Lunar New Year Ideas JENRON DESIGNSOnce the chocolate is completely set up you can package your cookies in small cellophane gift bags or to complete the theme a small Chinese take out box, like I did. These make cute school treats, ladies night gifts or neighbor gifts just pair them a cute pair of chopsticks, which could be used as a hair accessory and you are good to go.
