$100 Room Challenge: Birds of Paradise
Welcome to the $100 Room Challenge: Birds of Paradise. This season I will be adding a few birds of paradise to my downstairs guest bathroom.
Welcome to the $100 Room Challenge: Birds of Paradise. I decided to do my first $100 Room Challenge one year ago in January and I loved it! This challenge takes place twice a year, January and September and is hosted by Erin from Lemons, Lavender, & Laundry. She invites us to redo a room in our home using only $100, and we must complete the task in one month. We have one month to complete the makeover and we post a weekly update every Wednesday. You may have seen Erin talk about this challenge on the Rachael Ray Show. If you want to learn more about the $100 Room Challenge, you can check out Erin’s post to see how the concept was inspired, and it’s colossal growth since she started it.

My Previous $100 Room Challenges:
I always like to show my previous challenges to give you a little background, and if you are like me and hate to wait the 4-5 weeks for the reveal, these links will give you access to past complete challenges you can read straight through. My first $100 Room Challenge: Linen Closet was one year ago. Since this was my first $100 Room Challenge ever, I was not sure if I could really stay within the $100 budget. For this reason I played it safe, I choose to update my linen closet to give it some much needed organization and a rustic farmhouse feel to match the rest of my home.

Linen Closet After:
Our second $100 Room Challenge: Game of Thrones featured our master bathroom toilet room. Again I was playing it safe, not sure if I could adhere to that $100 budget for a room, but I was able to for the most part and produce a great final outcome. However, as with any project you always see more things you want to add on, which would not meet the criteria of the $100 budget. So, our Master Bathroom will be our One Room Challenge this spring and we will be expanding on this final outcome a little bit more.

BEFORE PICTURES:
As you can see, we have kept the bathroom very simple since moving in and added only the basics like showers curtains and artwork to pull the space together. However, it has yet to really have a true design. I think I was just waiting for my office to be done, so I could pull design inspiration from it. The side by side doors do take up a lot of valuable wall real estate, so it made me want to do a pattern that was pretty vibrant, since those are just big blank spaces. Along with the super long 96″ wall of white shower curtain, which was a custom order and completely out of a $100 budget to replace, it would take the entire budget, lol. Why so long? Well in my experience, to make a room feel larger, it is better to add curtains or drapes closer to the ceiling height; which is what we did with the shower curtain. That being said, the ceilings in this room are 10 feet tall. So this gives me an opportunity to add a darker color and the coffers to the ceiling for more visual interest in this room; while adding value to our home with permanent trim upgrades.
Plus, adding the frame around the mirror should also really dress up this space too. We have a lot to get done over the next four weeks, so we better get to it.
Be sure to check out a few of blog friends below to see what they will be up too during their $100 Room Challenge this time too!

I am amazed and shocked at the difference $100 can make in these spaces! I always thought it would take several hundred dollars to thousands of dollars to make these changes. I’m going to follow in your footsteps!

You made some really great looking upgrades for a very impressively low budget my hats off to you.
You made some decent points there. I seems like on the web people search for the answers to home issues and together with your website they will find some great ones.
I agree. Reminds me of the old saying, when life gives you lemons make some lemonade.
What a great idea for room challenge I love that the budget is $100 that makes you be really creative.
I’m so impressed, I must say. Really rarely must I encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you’ve got hit the nail within the head. Your thought process is outstanding; the thing is something which inadequate persons are speaking intelligently about. I will be very happy when I always stumbled across this during my find something about it.
You might have a fantastic weblog here! Would you wish to make some invite posts on my weblog?
I love you as much as the artistic example carried out right here. The sketch is attractive and stylish.
What an great idea I love the idea of painting instead of pesky wallpaper , that stuff is a nightmare in a bathroom, from years of experience.
Yesterday, while I was at work,I had some time to surf the net and I found your glorious site filled with ideas and inspiration.
I need to thank you for this good read! I definitely loved every bit of it. I have got you book-marked to look at new things you post.
