Midnight Margaritas
There is nothing I love better than a few Midnight Margaritas so check out my super easy recipe here!
JUMP TO RECIPE
It is getting to be that time of year again that I start to crave those “Midnight Margaritas” so I am sharing my super easy recipe with you guys. Honestly this post reminds a bit of Practical Magic, another seasonal favorite, when the ladies decide to have a few Midnight Margaritas and talking smack around the kitchen table, which seems like the best time ever! I have heard (total “here say”) while filming that particular scene, they really partook in those famous Margaritas for a more “authentic” film take, I say bravo ladies lol! Also keep scrolling for the “It’s Good to Be Home Blog Hop” with all some of my infamous gal pals below! What makes a perfect margarita? Well I feel like that question is subjective as there are so many great variations and recipes out there, wouldn’t you agree? I mean I personally have not met a Margarita that I don’t like to be honest as they are one of my favorite drinks.
However, today I am just talking about a basic fresh lemon juice margarita, nothing she she or fancy foo foo, although I love those too. Just a simple clean basic Margarita, like you are on the beach Tulum or Cabo and this is what the bartender is making for you.
To make the best margarita mix, all you really need are these three basic margarita ingredients:
- Tequila– I use a 100% agave Reposado Silver which is traditionally considered to be the best tequila for margaritas. However, you can use any type of tequila like a smoky mezcal will make a fun variation mixed with jalapenos and tarjin.
- Orange Liqueur– Grand Marnier, Cointreau or Triple Sec are all delicious options you can use as an Orange Liqueur. I personally use Grand Marnier or Cointreau in my margaritas regularly.
- Fresh Lime Juice– I highly recommend juicing your own limes for the best flavor versus buying a store bought lime juice.
Here is what you need per glass:
- 1 1/2 oz 100% Agave Silver Tequila
- 1 oz Orange Liqueur (Grand Marnier, Cointreau or Triple Sec)
- 3/4 oz freshly-squeezed lime juice
- Simple syrup, to taste (optional) 1 tbsp sugar to 2 tbsp water dissolved
- Lime Slices
- Coarse Salt to rim the glass (optional)
For A Cinco De Mayo Style Pitcher Party:
- 3 cups 100% Agave Silver Tequila
- 2 cups Orange Liqueur (Grand Marnier, Cointreau or Triple Sec)
- 1 1/2 cups freshly-squeezed lime juice
- Simple syrup, to taste (1/4 sugar 1/2 cup water dissolved)
- Lime Slices
- Coarse Salt to rim the glass (optional)
I like to chill mine in the refrigerator as I find ice will water done the flavors too much for my taste. Serve these up with some Chip & Salsa, Tacos or homemade Nachos for the perfect little fiesta, or a midnight snack! You can see more of festive my Cinco De Mayo Celebration Ideas here:
