Fruit Cake Cookies

Fruit Cake Cookies

Today I am sharing my easy recipe for Fruit Cake Cookies, the perfect way to use up that dreaded holiday fruit cake if you don’t like it.

Did you end up getting a holiday fruit cake at the office party or as a neighbor gift this year? Do you have no idea what to do with it? Maybe you hate fruit cake, which is sad because I personal have always liked a “good” fruit cake; but that being said not all fruit cakes are created equally. My Fruit Cake Cookies, combine a sugar cookie and crumbled fruit cake bits to make a really good tasty cookie. Ron really loves them! However we also use the best fruit around…

This recipe is so super easy all you need is fruit cake, crumbled up into nuggets and sugar cookie dough. We personally prefer the Claxton Fruit Cakes around here, and will tell you there is nothing better, and they are made locally here in Georgia. You can even plan a trip if you are local to store where the factory is located, Bill Murray did he is also a fan. IYKYK

For this recipe I just used the break and bake sugar cookies just to save time, but if you have a family recipe feel free to use it instead. I find perfect ratio in half a bar to one 24 ct of cookies; which leaves some fruit cake for eating, since we love it. All you do is add the nuggets of fruit cake into the cookie dough and roll into balls. Place on a cookie sheet and bake for the amount of time as directed on the package.

Mine was 350 degrees for 14 minutes. Let the cookies cool for 10- 15 minutes before serving or storing, this giving them time to set up properly. We like them just the way they are but other fun decorating options you can drizzle them with some melting chocolate if it is laying around from your pretzel dipping. LOL!

Then leave them out for Santa with glass of milk. Merry Christmas Y’all!

This was such a easy cookie recipe I was even able to let the kiddos help and they did a great job. I love it when recipes are child friendly and mashing two things together so easy it is toddler proof. It helps to build those family memories around the holidays, when little hands are not yet ready for refined skills.

OMG this is brilliant and so easy to do, we actually do love fruit cake. I am not sure how it got such a bad wrap? Maybe people have only had awful fruit cakes? What’s not to like cherries, nuts, pineapple, I mean it is basically a hummingbird cake. However I love this recipe mixed into a sugar cookie it was so yummy the perfect balance, and not overly sweet like a iced sugar cookie can be.
