The REC Room

Definition: A recreation room (also known as a rec room, rumpus room, or ruckus room) is a room used for a variety of purposes, such as parties, games and other everyday or casual use.

COPY MY HOMEWORK:

This is a perfect time of year to get your families Rec Room in order. As the summer break quickly approaches and the all kiddos will be spending more time at home, make sure you have created a space for them to hang with there friends.  I am designing this space with older kids in mind, younger children elementary age, would probably prefer more of a play room atmosphere this is meant more for family gatherings, teens and tweens hanging out,  parties or sleep overs, and of course football season.

1. The 7 Piece Shaker Style Home Bar    2.  Mackay Sectional- Oscar Sterling Gray

If you are lucky enough to be finishing out your basement, I highly recommend adding in a wet bar area. Now obviously it will completely depend on your available space, but an option like this built in cabinet area would allow for snacks and drinks to be served during game time. A mini fridge could be added along with a microwave for convenance.

3. Holli Zollinger Floor Pillow  4. Wayfair Basics Throw Pillow- Red  5. Meigs Perched Bird Throw Pillow 6. Doerun Pillow Cover- Black

The ottoman provides a perfect storage area for board games, extra pillows or blankets. I would recommend a couple of these to keep your REC room clean and tidy. While I am not a huge fan of entertainment centers anymore. I understand that some walls your in your home might require the television to sit on a table, in those cases I like this option.

7. Bantom Storage Ottoman- Charcoal   8. Corona 12-Light Cluster Pendant 9. Tsukiji Orange Area Rug  10. Rorie 59″ TV Stand

Of course, every REC room needs to have the toys. The most obvious choice being a pool table, or gaming consoles. I really like the farmhouse style of this pool table. The cue cabinet is has a dart board inside so you will get a double use out of it. I also love the coffee table foosball option because it is smaller, takes up less space and still is a functional  sofa table.

11. Shrewsbury Cocktail Table with Foosball  12. 8 oz. Deluxe Kettle Old Fashioned Popcorn Trolley 13. Dartboard Cabinet Wall Cue Rack 14. Brazos River 8′ Pool Table

I believe I have posted before about the minted Art program but I really can not say enough great things about it. Here are a few fantastic selections that would pair well with the other decor selections above. Each of these are a one of kind art piece from local artists. They can be framed and signed to meet your design criteria. They even offer commissioned and custom art designed with your own specific colors to match your room.

15. King Hassan Tiles by AMK 16.  the chiton by Caryn Owens   17. bloom on rain by Fernandi Martinez 18. Abstract Watercolor Commission bySimona Cavallaro

As for paint selections, really anything goes in this type of space. However, if your Rec room is in a basement  with limited windows and natural light I would recommend going with a lighter color. This will help to bring more light into your space and make it feel brighter. Here are a few color selections to get you started along with Sherwin Williams 2018 Color of The Year, In the Moment.

All of these items are simply a suggestion by JENRON DESIGNS, it is up to the purchaser to make the final decision of whether a product, or paint will work for their room. JENRON DESIGNS  recommends that you take all paint swatches home to view in your homes lighting, prior to making a final decision.  Since we are not able to see your home JENRON DESIGNS is not liable for how a paint color looks on your actual walls and recommends a sample square prior to painting the entire  room. Paint tends to change colors with the lighting of room though out the day so it is recommend that you view the color swatches for at least 24 hours, in all lightening prior to making a full room commitment.
