A Vintage Valentine’s Tablescape
Today I am sharing a vintage style Valentine’s tablescape for you and your sweethearts.
The color story that influenced my vintage Valentine’s tablescape was based off of the theme of,”The Days of Wine and Roses” which was carried out by utilizing flowers in wine shades of red, purple and blush. Whether you are celebrating with your ladies group, your small group, a neighbor’s nite out, or your family, break out the wine, and celebrate a fun adults night.
When setting the table you can never go wrong with a fresh flower centerpiece nothing says vintage more that flowers. Take a look below at how this low conversation piece really completes the look for my Valentine’s Day tablescape.
The crowning jewel in this stunning centerpiece is the purple anemone (pronounced- A-Nen-amy). I am only saying this way because everyone ALWAYS mispronounces it and usually no one knows what that purple flower is, and always asks me. The rest of my arrangement is filled with red and fuchsia spray roses, pale pink stock and luscious green pittosporum.
Floral Designer Pro Tip: I love stock because it has one of the most beautiful fragrances on the planet. It is not bold and overpowering like a lily, or tea rose, but it has a very lite fresh smell. You never want to use fragrant flowers at a dinner party or even scented candles, since the smell can over power the food and even make guest nauseated. 
By keeping the table linens understated, the open concept dining room is still neutral enough to transition into the rest of my home. I was feeling a little bit nostalgic so used mom’s vintage antique white linen table cloth. Then layered it with a simple grey pinstripe linen runner. This allows those beautiful flowers to be the main pop of color on this table. 
I love these burlap chargers, and I feel like they can go with everything. Plus, it really fits into the vintage farmhouse theme nicely. The vintage Noritake china, belonged to my mother, and I am very lucky to have inherited this priceless set from her. My mother really had impeccable taste, the pattern she picked back in 1958, Versailles, still holds up to the test of time today. It is a simple yet chic dining pattern with graceful lines and timeless elegance. 
I decided to add these sweet little white heart shaped bowls and fill them with water so I float a single spray rose inside. I think this technique invokes a subtle, yet chic nod to Valentine’s Day without being overtly theme oriented. Then with the addition of some basic red napkins this super easy set makes your table.
PRO DESIGNER TIP: I am a big fan of a good multi tasking item. These red napkins can be utilized for many occasions and up to 3 major holidays- 4th of July, Valentines and Christmas. Valentines is always an easy transition from Christmas and you can keep a lot of your red decor out.
Did somebody say chocolate? Now it just would not be a Valentine’s Day celebration be without a sweet treat and chocolate would be at the top of my list! Do yourself a favor and pick up some beautiful and festive pre made, especially if you already have to do all the cooking for the dinner. I personally really like these beautiful decorated, one bite petit fours and chocolate covered strawberries from our local Publix.
Don’t forget the wine! Even though we are mainly whiskey and bourbon drinkers, my husband and I do love the Gainey Vineyard wine collection. We discovered them on a recent trip to California. Located just south of Napa Valley in Santa Ynez, this quaint little vineyard stole our hearts and almost our name, LOL. We decided to become annual members, and we receive around 2-3 bottles a month. After trying a few, Ron highly recommend Patrick’s Reserve Vineyard as a red choice.
I must admit they have an amazing Chardonnay. I personally am not normally a huge fan of Chardonnay. Gainey Chardonnay has a wonderful buttery quality. One I have never experienced before, and it is not oakey at all. We also think it’s pretty cool to all it “our house wine” since it has a glorious golden G on every bottle. That is perfect for the Gainer’s. It is as if had our own personally monogrammed wine bottles, and don’t get me started on the possible craft projects, to be seen later on I am sure!
Finally don’t forget the candles, Valentine’s Day is all about romance and love, so go ahead and splurge and light up a few dozen or so candles and you can even scatter some rose petals about to really set the stage and make your dinner party a true success. I would recommend to use unscented candles with a meal, just so it does not over power your guest during the dinner. Whether it is dinner for 2 or 12 always make the most of it, and enjoy every second of everyday! Hugs & Kisses and all my Valentine Wishes!

Can always count on you for a beautiful tablescape. Love the touch of your mom’s tablecloth, I love using pieces that have a family history mixed in with newer items. Love your burlap chargers . . . my go to at the moment is the galvanized for my farmhouse look and feel. The flowers are just beautiful! About how long would a bouquet like that last? As always it’s perfect!
Hey Nina thanks for the great comment these flowers are designed in a floral foam called oasis (aka-floral frogs) which soak up water and need to continually be watered in the dry winter months. I would say about 2 weeks weeks on the hardy flowers like roses and stock. Unfortunately, the delicate anemones will start to droop within a week, just the nature of those types of flowers, and I will usually pull them out at that point for that reason and just keep the roses and stock and greenery.

This Valentines I’ll try them as the center piece instead of the traditional candles I always use because it’s still cold in February.They’ll double on that day in addition to the flowers and chocolates i always get as a Valentines gift.maybe I’ll drop a subtle hint ha!
