The Stars Aligned Anniversary Post

The Stars Aligned Anniversary Post

Join us in celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary with a commemorative piece of custom star art, entitled “The Stars Aligned”.

As many of you that follow me on social media might know, Ron and I recently celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary on July 26, this year. It has really been a busy year for us and July was no exception, it seems like we were meeting ourselves coming and going. We were able to carve out a little time to celebrate our 21 years of marriage, as you do, with a little unplugged getaway. I have to say it was really nice to let the technology and constant online teether go for a bit, but then it was back to the grind, lol. Now, as I am typing this post and answering emails, I am only dreaming about going back to the quiet serenity of our mountain top getaway; where the sky was full of stars with a hint of honeysuckle on the warm summer breeze.

About a month ago, I was contacted by Jennifer over at, Modern Map Art about creating a custom Star Chart for our wedding anniversary. Now, I have to be honest I had never heard of such a thing, but I was so intrigued I just had to go and check it out. So here is the scoop,  a star map is a picture taken of the night sky on a specific date, from your exact coordinates. How cool is that? Now you know I just had to have one of those for my anniversary!
The best part is that you can custom design everything about your star map. You have the option to choose from 6 different color themes. That are variations of white, black, gray and navy. I decided to go with a white base and black star map. You can add a constellations overlay to the map if you wish. For my home, I preferred the simplicity of a simple starry sky. You can also select a from a poster print with frame like mine or a have the print mounted on to a canvas for a more modern feeling. We opted for a framed print to give us the option of changing the frame further down the road, to match any decor style we have. However, I really liked the simple clean lines of a wrapped canvas, so this decision took some serious thought.
We added our wedding date and our location. To add an extra element of customization, we opted to add the exact global coordinates of our ceramony, which is pretty cool. We also selected the font as well, so as you can see you really have a ton of choices to get the a one of a kind custom look for your specific print.

You are also allowed to create your own title, of approximately 16 characters. I chose “The Stars Aligned”, which holds a lot of sentiment for us. This is a very personal part of the story, but I want to share it so you can understand how such a personal gift like this can mean so much to many different people. The reason we always say “The Stars Aligned” is because when Ron and I were engaged, my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We were orignally slated to be married in April of 1998, but that was not going to happen. We literally moved heaven and earth to pull a wedding together in less than 2 months, thus The Stars Aligned, and we made it happen. My mother passed a little over 4 months after our wedding but we will always have the pictures and memories of our entire family being together for the first and last time that day. I have to tell you, I really am loving our newest addition to our art collection. I love the fact that it is a one of kind piece and nobody will have the exact same one as I do. Sometimes it really is funny how things work out, I do find it very ironic how the stars did align again, and we received this beauty just after our anniversary and right after our post about a Picnic Under the Stars to watch the meteor shower going on later this week. I can also cuddle up under my new blanket I got from the Nordstrom Sale that just arrived too. That’s how you know things are just meant to be. Also as a side note, if you are ever just looking for that perfect accessory for a gray and white photoshoot and just have no idea what your room might be missing, I highly recommend a Ralphy, they are an absolute joy to work with and get paid in kitty treats.

So should you find yourself looking for that perfect anniversary gift, or another momentous occasion like a housewarming, wedding or birth of a newborn. I highly recommend checking the wonderful options available to you at Modern Map Art. They also have a great line of city maps and local street maps that would be perfect in an urban apartment or industrial city loft, to add that modern edgy vibe. They also offer really cute pillows too, which I can totally see with a local map printed for a cute cottage style beach house or vacation home, wink wink!

Sorry that you have also lost a parent to cancer. My mom’s first diagnosed cancer was right before our wedding day but she didn’t tell us she was sick until we returned from our honeymoon, this remains a testament to her love for us every year on our anniversary, 30 years now. She passed away last September after a two year battle with cancer. She is our third parent whom cancer has taken far too soon.

  17. I love this post, and the reason for your picking the title, The Stars Aligned. We had some similar events around our wedding too. Sometimes people forget that not all weddings have the happiest stories to go along with them. sometimes the love story has bittersweet portions that go along with it, but I think that is what makes it a real love story, built on true substance not just a big party of two people that don’t really know each other that ends in divorce 2 or 3 years later. This why you are are celebrating 21 years of marriage, congratulations.

  18. What a sweet anniversary gift, I love that is it the night sky on your wedding night. That really is a very special and would make a great gift idea for the birth of a child for there nursery, I could see it titled “a star is born”, especially is they were born around Christmas… oh my goodness that would be perfect for my sister-in-law she is due in December!!!

  19. Okay this is a cool idea for commemorative wall art wall! I will have to check out the site and see what else they offer, the pillows sound cool too.
