Home for The Holidays: Christmas Home Tour

Hi everyone and welcome to my first annual Home for The Holidays: Christmas Home Tour. On this home tour you can see my home inside and out, all decorated up for the the holidays.

I am also hosting with several talented Home Decor Bloggers and we have created a Home for The Holidays: Christmas Home Tour Extravaganza. You will be able to see several beautiful homes all decked out for the holidays, o be sure to check out all the links located at the bottom of this post!Home for The Holidays Blog Hop JENRON DESIGNSHome for The Holidays Blog Hop JENRON DESIGNS, I always like to start with the front porch and home elevation. This year we decide to keep a very classic home for the holidays feel by using all white lights, and evergreen wreaths from FrontGate. This is in direct contrast of last year’s theme, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” with colorful lights and a playful grinch ripping those very lights off of my home.Home for The Holidays Front Porch JENRON DESIGNSThis year I have opted to add a red and black Buffalo Check ribbon to the wreaths and front porch tree. Even though the Buffalo Check gives a more rustic feeling to our home I felt like the red and black matched nicely with our majestic nutcrackers that are flanking either side of the front porch.Home for The Holidays Porch JENRON DESIGNSI found these fun boxwood letters that spell NOEL at Ballards, and added more of our Buffalo check ribbon to string them together on the other side of the railing. Last year we did a light up garland but this year I wanted to mix things up a little bit.Home for The Holidays Wreath JENRON DESIGNSI opted to do a different type of wreath on the front door to make it seem special. This lovely pinecone wreath started out in a natural brown color; which did not show up on my stained walnut door. So, I decided to hit it with a little silver spray paint to give a more festive feel and stand out. Home for The Holidays Porch JENRON DESIGNSWarm up as you step inside foyer and good old Ryan, my ceramic Boxer butler; a permanent fixture in my home, is all dressed up and ready to greet you for the holidays.  Just ring our extra large cow bell for butler service.Home for The Holidays Welcome JENRON DESIGNSThis is our foyer table located in the entryway, which I decide to keep very simple with those infamous Pottery Barn reindeer everyone on the planet has, LOL. He is joined by my waving Waterford  Santa Claus. You also might notice a little mistletoe hanging from the foyer chandelier in the mirror’s reflection. I just love keeping old holiday traditions alive.Pottery Barn Deer JENRON DESIGNSOff to your right is our formal living room with a brand new 7  1/2 ft tall flocked tree. As seen in a recent post where we were asked to partner with Arhaus and the American Forestry Foundation to create an infographic about “Going Green for the Holidays”.  This is our winter white Lenox tree, adorned with 20 years worth of collectable annual ornaments from Lenox China Company. While this is a very pretty tree in my home it is also very sentimental as it carries our very first dated wedding ornament. I like to decorated with authentic things that mean something to out family and will invoke happy memories. So I am afraid that while the color scheme, ribbon and picks may change this tree will always be filled with Lenox Ornaments. I also have placed few of my large nutcrackers on display in this room as well. I have a bit of an affinity for nutcrackers and have decided to scatter them throughout my home this year. We are also doing a fun Instagram video twice a week until the holidays called my Suite Singing Nutcrackers. Be sure to check it out as they are pretty funny, and suitable for the whole family. Just a fun side note, they will be performed by a famous puppeteer, who shall remain anonymous for now, but those of you that know me, know who I am speaking about wink, wink. Home for The Holidays Nutcracker Tour JENRON DESIGNSAs you head out toward the great room you will pass by our dining room. This years tablescape is themed The Holly & The Ivy, which is overflowing from this amazing “yule” log centerpiece. To keep with the rustic feel, we added a set of slim pines, a few more nutcrackers and this sweet vintage wooden toy train I found at the antique market. The Holiday Holly & Ivy Placesetting JENRON DESIGNSWe have set the table with gold chargers, red napkins and our Holiday Holly Berry china, which is also by Lenox. You can check out more details on this fantastic table and decor on my full tablescape blog post on The Holly & The Ivy.Lenox Holiday Table Blog Hop JENRON DESIGNSAs you head out of the dining room you are greeted by our festive holiday family room. This room is home to our impressive 15 ft travel tree. All of the ornaments on this tree have come from all of our travels over the years. This is such a fun tree to put up every year as we reminisce about our adventures of traveling around the world. This year I have carried the check theme into this room with a scarf garland instead of ribbon and red glittery stars, for my Christmas in the Stars theme. Home for Holidays Great Room JENRON DESIGNSThe mantle is only a small piece of garland, as not to block the almighty television. It is filled with berries, and velvet poinsettias added in for color. The television is flanked by Santa boot rosemary trees, while my frisky reindeer frolic on the hearth. Please know you will never find a real poinsettia in my home, because I have cats, and the poinsettia is highly toxic to all pets, dogs and cats. See our post “12 Pet Safe Houseplants” for the complete list. Holiday Staircase JENRON DESIGNSAs you can probably see, we have a lot of garland spanning throughout the house. I liked the natural look of the thinner garland on the balcony railing adorned with a simple strand of pinecones on a knotted burlap ribbon. I am finding that I prefer similar decorations these day, about 5 years ago these things would have been covered with bows and lights. So, I am slowly transitioning to a simpler kind of Christmas decor.Garland for Holidays JENRON DESIGNSThe staircase has a thicker more dense garland and is filled with berries, giant pinecones, magnolia leaves, pine, cedar, and cypress greenery for a live look without all the shedding mess. We have added some fun holiday pillows to the drop zone area and cleared the coat rack since we will be receiving many guests over the holiday season. Drop Zone Holiday Decor JENRON DESIGNSThis time of year, I always like to add little unexpected treats throughout my home too. It makes the decorations fun for the kiddos that stop by, and even the adults. This little elf tucked away into the garland has a treat sack full of soft chewy peppermints.Upstairs in our twin guest room, we have added a small corner tree, filled with metallic butterflies and sitting a top a festive drum. I really love how the top butterfly actually looks like a star on top of the tree.Guest Room Decor JENRON DESIGNSWe also wrapped the iron headboard with this flashy sequin Christmas light garland and added a fun jingle bell star pillow. Since this is normally a children’s guest room we have included some fun holiday toy’s and books for nighttime reading on the dresser. A New York Christmas, which we picked up several years ago at Tavern on the Green, while having it was autographed by the author, depicts a little boy’s adventure in NYC at the holidays. Star PIllow JENRON DESIGNSI really like the idea of having Christmas decor in the guest rooms but on an understated level. The queen guest suite has an old knitted vintage stocking sock at the foot of the bed and simple holiday “Cheer” Pillow on the bed and of course a few strategically placed nutcrackers to carry through our holiday theme. 3 Wise Men Nutcrackers JENRON DESIGNSMy office is home to the girliest of the Gainer Christmas trees. This is my vintage jewelry tree, and it carries pretty pieces of vintage jewelry from my mom, both of my grandmother’s, my great grandmother and even my brother in-law’s mom. Since they were mostly circa 1950’s I opted to add tulle to the tree creating a crinoline style skirt. Some of the pieces are collectors pieces from the Order of the Eastern Stars dating back to the 1930’s, 1940’s & 1950’s from where my all my grands were worthy matrons and 8th degree master masons back in the day.Mannequin Tree JENRON DESIGNSI love Christmas so much, we even have a tree in our master bedroom. As a kid, I would always fall asleep waiting up for Santa under the Christmas tree. Now as an adult there is nothing better than going to sleep with Christmas lights in our bedroom. The wall timer takes care of turning off all those lights for me after I am fast asleep. Woodland Ribbon Wonder Tree JENRON DESIGNSThe tree ribbon and woodland decor is loosely based off the Faire Isle Quilt set we have on the bed. I have actually repurposed this ribbon from our previous outdoor wreaths it was still in such good shape I could not bare to toss it out. Home for The Holidays Farie Isle Quilt JENRON DESIGNSThe Faire Isle quilt set is completed with bright holiday red cable knit pillows and a super lux throw from Pottery Barn.  This is such a comfy cozy holiday bed, absolutely fit for a king. Home for The Holidays Naughty Pillow JENRON DESIGNSDepending on my mood for the day…. I have the option of flipping this large bolster pillow to read either Naughty or Nice. It is kind of a fun thing to gage how you or you suppose is feeling that day depending on who made the bed and what side the pillow was left on, lol.  I also decided to carry this theme into the his and her master bath vanities as well. I bet you can’t guess who the naughty one is?Home for The Holidays His & Hers JENRON DESIGNSOne thing I would like to share with you is the Scentsicles we use for our trees.  We really love that fresh cut smell of a real tree.  This is the one thing that is always missing, for me, on an artificial tree. I make sure to get a container per tree, and I even use them in my garlands. Even though there are 6 scent sticks inside, I like to place all 6 on one tree and I place them near lights to help activate the scent.Home for The Holidays Blog Hop Scents JENRON DESIGNS

HOLIDAY LIGHTS TOUR:

To me half the fun of the holiday, is seeing all the Christmas lights. We have a tradition of driving around and looking at Christmas lights in our local area. Each year we pick a new location to visit and of course we have our favorite standbys we always have to see. I did not want you to miss out on the lights. So, I added a few of our after dark photos to the end below:Home for The Holidays Lights Blog Hop JENRON DESIGNS
